This update introduces a built-in screen recorder, expanding the capabilities of the Snipping Tool to capture and share even more types of content.

Rollout Timeline:

It is important to note that the rollout of this update is just beginning, so not all Insiders in the Dev Channel will receive it right away. This means that some users may have to wait a bit longer before they can take advantage of the new screen recording feature.

Excitement among the Insider Community:

The Snipping Tool is a favorite among the Insider community, and for good reason. It has always made it quick and easy to capture and share content from your PC. With the addition of a built-in screen recorder, the capabilities of the Snipping Tool have now expanded to even more types of content, making it even more valuable to users.

Getting Started with the Screen Recorder:

To get started with the new screen recording feature, simply open the Snipping Tool app or press shortcut (window key + shift + S )nd select the new record option (+ new  press plus icon to get start).

From there, you will be able to select and refine the part of your screen that you want to record before starting your screen recording session. Once you have finished your recording, you can preview it before saving or sharing it with others.

Known Issues:

It's worth noting that there are a couple of known issues that may impact the user experience with this preview. Some users may notice a slight delay between when they click "Start" and when the recording begins. Additionally, there is an issue where the Snipping Tool app window does not restore when initiating a new snip from within the app.

Conclusion: Overall, this update to the Snipping Tool app for Windows 11 brings exciting new capabilities to users, making it even easier to capture and share content from their PCs. While there are some known issues, the development team is working to address them as soon as possible. We hope that this update will be well-received by the Insider community and make the Snipping Tool even more valuable to users.
